Where it is
Shaviyani lies in the north of the Maldives and makes up the northern half of Miladhunmadulu, a natural atoll; Noonu is the southern half.
Getting there
Resorts are reached by seaplane, about 55 minutes from Malé, or by a domestic flight to Funadhoo and a speedboat. Funadhoo, in the atoll, has had a domestic airport since 2020. The longer journey adds to the sense of seclusion.
Under water
The reefs have turtles, mantas and reef sharks.
Who it suits
A stay here suits couples and anyone after seclusion, with turtles and mantas on the reefs and very few other resorts. Our pick of Shaviyani’s resorts is below. Tell us who is travelling and what matters most, and we suggest the island that fits.
