The bush-and-beach honeymoon, with the routing between the two worked out for you.

The pairing

From the bush to the beach in a day.

Flights from East and southern Africa reach the Maldives through a hub such as Dubai, Doha or Abu Dhabi, so the move from the bush to the beach takes most of a day. After early starts and long game drives, a week on an island is the slow end the trip needs: a villa over the water, the reef, and nowhere to be.

Plan your stay

Planning it

What to know before you book.

The journey, your papers and your bags need a little more planning than the other pairings.

  1. The journey

Through a hub such as Dubai, Doha or Abu Dhabi. Allow most of a day.

  2. Yellow fever

If you have been in a country with a risk of yellow fever, such as Kenya or Uganda, you need a vaccination certificate to enter the Maldives. Children under one are exempt.

  3. The certificate

Valid for life, written in English or French, with the stamp of the centre that gave it.

  1. Your bags

Safari light aircraft allow about 15 to 20 kg, in soft bags. The seaplane allows 20 kg in the hold and 5 kg in hand, so a safari bag fits.

  2. June to October

The dry season on safari, and the green season in the Maldives, with lower rates.

  3. January and February

Calving season in the Serengeti, and the Maldives at its driest.

What we arrange

From the bush to the island.

  1. Timed to your flight

The island transfer is timed to meet your flight into Malé, and your flight home.

  2. An island for the hour you land

Seaplanes fly in daylight only, so land by 15:30 for a seaplane island. Later than that, an island reached by speedboat, or a night near the airport first.

  3. One quote

The island, the villa and every transfer on one quote, each on its own line.

  4. One contact

One contact from your first message until you fly home.

A sample stay

Five nights after the bush.

One way five nights can run. Every island is different, and nothing here is fixed.

  1. Day 1

    Travel day

Through a hub to Malé, then the transfer to the island.

  2. Day 2

    Sleep in

No early start, no game drive: the beach and the pool.

  3. Day 3

    The reef

Snorkel the house reef, or a boat trip if the island runs one.

  4. Day 4

    The spa

A treatment in the afternoon, and dinner by the water.

  5. Day 5

    Last full day

A sunset cruise, or a last afternoon in the lagoon.

  6. Day 6

    Home

A transfer timed to your flight.
